In the wake of the tragic loss of five soldiers in Aba, Abia State, South East Nigeria, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu paid a visit to the military and families of the slain soldiers.
He was deeply saddened, and in solidarity with the bereaved families, he took immediate action by announcing the launching of a peace fund under the Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, and Reintegration thematic area of PISE-P He made a donation of N10 million to the families of the fallen soldiers to kick-start the fund and also encouraged members of PISE-P to donate to the fund. They all responded without delay. This was how The Peace Fund raised its first N25Million in less than 2 hours.
